One afternoon in the ADAPT
On Wednesday, January 7th, 2009, 10 students of the class preparing students for university entry were urged to participate in a project in the center THE ADAPT of Cambrai.
This establishment welcomes driving and physical handicapped children to prepare them to become autonomous in the life. We find specialized educators, instructors (monitors) there - educators, helps - medico - psychological...
Thanks to a former student of the class, now studying in 2nd year of instructor (monitor) educative, we had the opportunity to visit this center.
Indeed, the project of this trainee consisted in establishing a relation, an exchange between the handicaped children and the students thanks to the sport, because his subject was: " the socialization by the sport ".
After a presentation in the afternoon, each of us sponsored a child by playing the blowpipe after the children had explained us rules of the game. We were also able to make a small course of obstacles in wheelchair, what made us become aware that their everyday life was not easy.
Everybody participated in these activities, what facilitated a good relation between the staff of the center, the children and us.
This afternoon was finished with a tea time between all to exchange our impressions. It was very enriching. We thank besides our professor of French language, Madam Leduc, who was kind enough to accompany us.
